True.com is attempting
to push background check requirements on their
competitors - Match, Yahoo - all of them. The
attempt is to hurt their business and gain market
share. So Match and others are putting up a
fight. In the first battle the Big Dating Sites
were able to make themselves Exempt. Meanwhile,
they had no problem doing it to international
dating sites. Now is the time to get on this
site and let them know about IMBRA:

Also, a potential ally is this group:

The International Association of Dating Websites
- they took a stand against background checks
so how can they stand behid IMBRA?
Rich
Gosse of the IADW is AGAINST background checks
for ALL introduction agencies (see article below).
True.com is FOR background checks since True
already does it and wants to hurt Match.com,
Yahoo Personals and others (the "Megas") by
making them do it as well. So, here is the strategy
-
This strategy to fight IMBRA is a two-fold process
that requires burning the candle at both ends.
First, support True.com by pointing out to them
that IMBRA worked and therefore is the first
step to getting all agencies regulated. That
is, use True.com to tell the lawmakers something
like "IMBRA passed as the first background check
regulation so now its justified to make the
Megas do it as well." Get True to raise and
push the issue.
Second, at the same time, support Rich Gosse
and the IADW since most in the IADW dont want
regulation. That is, point out to Gosse that
IMBRA will be used by True.com to get their
background check regulation imposed on all the
Megas.
With both these stategies implemented togehter,
the IADW and the Megas will then fight IMBRA.
Its a longshot, but all these folks have money
and legal power so why not be a troublemaker
and stir the pot. Use IMBRA as tool that destroys
itself.

IADW to oppose legislation on Fox News
Posted by David Evans
Rich Gosse, founder of the IADW, will be interviewed
for about 5-6 minutes on Fox News Live on the
Fox News Channel on Wednesday morning, March
30, 2005 shortly after 8:30am Pacific Time.
During the interview Rich will speak out against
the proposed legislation in several U.S. state
legislatures regarding criminal background checks
on dating websites.
The International Association of Dating Websites
is opposed to this proposed legislation. Rich
hopes you will join the IADW in urging state
legislators, particularly the state senators
in Michigan, to vote no on this special interest
legislation which is harmful to the online dating
industry.
